Dare to Imagine

A Year of Fiction and Poetry

Art is solace, art is instruction, art is provocation. We need art—fiction, poetry—this election year. Perhaps especially this election year. From the start, Farrar, Straus and Giroux has devoted itself to literature. This year, we are making a special effort to showcase the importance of the imagination as a counterpoint to and commentary on the shambles of our political life. We present to you each month one book of poetry and one book of fiction from our list.

The good books and the great books rise above the politics of our time. We need them for protection and nourishment. They will outlast our frenzied fighting.

Sincerely,
Mitzi Angel, Publisher

For every month in 2020, we’ve selected one book of fiction and one poetry collection to keep you company. And each writer will recommend a title from FSG’s history, from dog-eared classics to buried gems. Our year of literature will unfurl through unmissable events and a suite of special offers, enlisting booksellers, bookmakers, readers, and writers. Visit the Dare to Imagine website here.
